Wondrous waves of musical & human togetherness

ETNO HISTERIA 2026

A thousand and one impressions, memories, emotions, sounds, tunes, songs and rhythms inhabit  my being as the train steers me away from our beloved Etno Histeria community. Two weeks – two months, two years? Time measured in seconds, days, dates dissolved into wondrous waves of musical and human togetherness.

Carried by our mutual love for sound and being alive, the moment, madness, the joys of creativity, the impossible became possible in a constant flow of chaos, maximalism and communitas.

Intense times, not without facing struggles in relation to societal issues resurfacing in our small community. But then even more profound to feel the gratitude and efforts made by all to work towards a happy co-living in line with our values.

What a year !

A dance night in the village; the prisoners singing their beautiful songs; rafting on the beautiful Kolpa river; our cosy home up at Cats Hill, where we were being spoiled with amazing food, electrolytes, lavender sprays, the one or the other Schnaps ....

Hours and hours and hours of rehearsing every day (we must be really into this!) Sunrise at the secret spot; hammock siestas; a beautiful singing session in the cave; an 80s post- concert dancing session; cruising along the Ljubljanica with the whole orchestra and some special guests at the shore and streamed in from Gaza; a mini festival in Truske; a last orchestra blast under the tree ....

Sooooo much work for everyone involved, running around at any given time during the day or night to fix an arrangement or learn a new song; to talk something through, make plans for next actions, gather the orchestra, instigate open stage actions ....

No time to rest or go to the bathroom at times.

Even so – I would do it again, straight away!! (Ok, maybe after two days of rest ....)

Hvala Matija for bringing us all together and creating such life transforming possibilities with your tuned- in presence on this earth! Thank you all the orchestra for following along with this madness, always up for learning something new and to dive into the next crazy action !!!! All the volunteers and the core team; as well as my fellow mentors – what a treat to get to work with ye and float through this maze of wonderful madness! Til next we meet ...
